We have been partnering with the Napier Port since 2019.

Working alongside Napier Port’s health and safety team we have provided independent investigations, health and safety team coaching and mentoring, ELT and Board education and governance training and a port wide review and implementation of a critical risk management programme.

We engaged Van Schaik Health and Safety Consultants in 2019 to assist with our ongoing health and safety continuous improvement projects (hazardous substances & information management review) as we continue to assess and implement best-practice standards in health and safety management. Napier Port

Van Schaik Health & Safety Solutions partnered with the Napier Port to assist with the ongoing improvement of the Port’s hazardous substances management system to evaluate and ensure compliance requirements.

The Port required specialist technical and experienced operational resources to navigate between the evolving port and vessel hazardous substance requirements and compliance between maritime and land-based regulatory jurisdictions, national legislation and international codes of practice.

The Port partnered with Van Schaik Health & Safety Solutions to peer review current practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement, to define the boundaries between vessel and port hazardous substances requirements, to develop a site-wide hazardous substances management plan that would continually evaluate best practice ensuring ongoing achievement of regulatory compliance, to provide operational advice and guidance for implementing an evolving hazardous substances management plan and project management support to assist with achieving the Port’s compliance outcomes.

In 2019 Van Schaik Health & Safety Solutions, in partnership with the Port’s Health and Safety Team and their Test Certifier, worked together combining technical and operational knowledge to develop a road map of activities to safeguard the Port’s hazardous substance management systems for the future ensuring site-wide compliance is continuously achieved.
