Tony is a successful senior manager and leader who has been focused on whole-of-business risk control, operational integration, and long-term effective behavioural change. He has extensive experience managing risks in Defence, Mining and Logistics Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
Tony has held several senior military and government management roles including, Director of Defence Safety Management Agency, Program Director for the Military Risk Management Project in Army, Senior Project Manager Defence Strategic Safety Policy and Planning, and Senior Project Manager Safe Design in the National OHS Commission. In 2022/23 he led a strategic partnership services program for the Joint Capability Group in Defence, before acting as the Transition and Integration Program Manager for QinetiQ’s acquisition of Air Affairs Australia.
Tony is a Chartered Fellow and has been an active member of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety (formerly the Safety Institute of Australia) since 1997 and was awarded life membership in 2023. He filled numerous volunteer roles over those years including various branch committee positions and Chair of both ACT and WA Branches. He also served the National Board for several years and was Deputy Chair of the Board for a number of years. Following that, Tony was a member on the AIHS College of Fellows’ committees, leading the Continuing Professional Development Committee for a number of years. His proudest achievement in that role was the design of the CPD Framework.
Tony is based in the Hawkes Bay.
